Thumbs up [14/09] Parys Technografx Ltd PT Devoids v1.00 S60v3 SymbianOS9.1 Retail-gkataria

PT DEVOIDS a new and exciting game for the Pocket PC , Smartphone and Symbian mobile devices.

The most exciting Asteroids game yet seen on windows mobile devices. With up to 100 action packet level each one designed to test your skill and dexterity. Kill the bad guys avoid the rocks collect the good bonuses avoid the bad and take each level one step at time SIMPLE.....
PT Devoids is a pseudo-3D "asteroids" game.
For those unfamiliar with the old asteroids-style games this means that PT Devoids is a space-based shoot-em-up where you control a spaceship on missions to destroy asteroids and bandit ships.
Control of the ship is the same as in the old-style asteroids and lunar- lander games where your ship has no brakes, in order to slow down you must face the opposite way to your direction of travel and fire your main thrusters. Because this control method may be unfamiliar your initial missions are rated as "easy" but gradually become more challenging as you progress.
Unlike the original asteroids games the asteroids in PT Devoids travel in 3D, when small they are not dangerous but they gradually approach to collision distance. When getting close to collision distance they are shown in yellow and when presenting a danger of collision they are shown in red.
Your primary task is to destroy the bandit ships rather than the asteroids and, in doing so, to investigate any wreckage thus produced for salvage that could enhance your own ship, but beware - the wreckage may contain dangers (red) rather than enhancements (yellow).

Hardware Compatibility for Symbian 3rd edition phones

Compatible with all series 60 3rd edition or above operating systems.

Screen Sizes

Installation.

To install PT Devoids you need to run the installation file (PTDevoids.sis) on your PC when your mobile device is connected to the PC via PC Suite.
Simply follow the instructions on your PC and mobile device to install, we recommend that you install to a storage card if possible.
Note that PT Devoids is specifically designed for Symbian S60 3rd Edition devices with displays of 320*240 or 240*320 but will also work at those resolutions on devices with larger displays.

The Game

PT Devoids is a pseudo-3D "asteroids" game.
For those unfamiliar with the old asteroids-style games this means that PT Devoids is a space-based shoot-em-up where you control a spaceship on missions to destroy asteroids and bandit ships.
Control of the ship is the same as in the old-style asteroids and lunar-lander games where your ship has no brakes, in order to slow down you must face the opposite way to your direction of travel and fire your main thrusters. Because this control method may be unfamiliar your initial missions are rated as "easy" but missions gradually become more challenging as you progress.

Orientation/Controls

When you run PTDevoids for the very first time the initial screen gives you the option to rotate your display so you may choose to view in any orientation (e.g. Landscape or portrait), simply press any joypad button if you wish to rotate the display or any other button once it's as you wish it to be. Note that the orientation you select stays independant of the system orientation when you run PTDevoids.
After orienting the display you can now define the controls.
First of all you need to define the controls for rotating your ship, here you initially press a button for "rotate left". You must repeat the operation to confirm. We recommend using joypad left to rotate left (i.e. Left with respect to your chosen display orientation).
You must then chose a button for "rotate right", again you must press the button a second time to confirm. We recommend using joypad right to rotate right (i.e. Right with respect to your chosen display orientation).
After choosing the controls for rotating your ship next you need to define a button for "thrust", again press a second time to confirm. We recommend joypad up to thrust (i.e. Up with respect to your chosen display orientation).
Next you must define a button for firing your missiles, here we recommend joypad centre or the left menu button or one of your keypad buttons (e.g. "4").
You must also define a button for “pause/minimize”, again press a second time to confirm. Here we recommend the right menu button. Note that on the menu/setup screens pressing this button will immediately minimize PTDevoids, when actually in gameplay pressing it once will pause the game and if you then press it again while paused then PTDevoids will be minimized. Also note that if you return to PTDevoids after it was minimised during gameplay then it will re-start in paused mode. To unpause the game during gameplay simply press any button other than pause/minimize.
Finally you need to define a button for “exit game”, here we recommend the “clear” button, again you must press the button a second time to confirm.

Main Menus

Once you've set the orientation and controls the main menu screen will appear, this is the screen that usually comes up first when you run the game.
Here you can choose to "Start game", "Re-orient/redefine" or "Exit game".
Use the joypad directions to change options and joypad centre or fire to choose.

When you choose "Start game" then if there is no saved game you will be taken straight to the ship customisation screen otherwise a new menu will appear allowing you to select from "Continue saved game", "Start new game" or "Exit game". Again use the joypad directions to change options and joypad centre or fire to select.

Customisation

Here you can change the bias of your ship's abilities, you can put as much as possible into defence or attack as you choose.
Use the joypad up/down to change between options.
When "Game Key" is highlighted you can press joypad centre or fire to go through a series of screens giving you information about the game.
When on the other options pressing joypad centre or fire will take you to the mission selection screen.
You can customise your ship by highlighting either "Rate of Fire", "Power Use", "Energy Use", "Shield Regen." or "Acceleration" and using joypad left and right to transfer points to/from the "Spare Points". In this way you could max. Out your rate of fire for aggressive play or say your shield regeneration for a more defensive style.
Highlighting "Next Level" allows you to use your left and right joypad buttons to choose the next level of difficulty.

Mission Selection

Once you've customised your ship and selected the difficulty level for your next mission you may now choose from three alternate destinations for the mission.
Again use the joypad directions to highlight an option and joypad centre or fire to choose.

The Gamescreen

In game you have a HUD giving various information at the top of the screen and a radar map in the bottom-right hand corner.
The HUD shows your spare ships, engine Temperature, shield Energy, salvage recovered and points score.
The number of spare ships you have is in the top-left hand corner, you get a bonus ship every 2500 points.
Under the spare ships are two vertical scales.
The left-hand one of these (T) is your engines' Temperature gauge and goes from black/green when low to red when high. If the temperature hits the top of this display then your ship will be destroyed due to engine overload. The primary cause of engine overload is too much use of your main thrusters.
The right-hand vertical scale (E) is your shield Energy and is black/green when full down to red when running low. If your ship is hit when your shield Energy is at the bottom then your ship will be destroyed. Note that firing missiles uses some of the same energy that's supplied to your shields and thus firing missiles can cause a reduced rate of shield Energy recovery or even drain your shields.
To the right of your spare ships are five icons representing five types of salvage enhancements: improved firing, improved acceleration, improved energy production (engine cooling), improved power use and improved shield regeneration. These appear in grey until you salvage that type when the icon changes to yellow. If you successfully salvage these types of enhancements and manage to exit the level stargate without losing a ship then these enhancements will become permenant.
In the top right-hand corner is your current score.
The radar map (bottom-right) shows your ship (solid white dot), bandit ships/wreckage/salvage (blue dots), approaching asteroids (yellow dots), dangerous asteroids (red dots) and the stargate level exit (flashing white dot).
The stargate exit only appears either after you've recovered all 5 types of "permenant" salvage or after a time pre-determined by your commander, whichever comes first.
