Default Complete newb with a ton of games

So I swapped my DS for a modded PSP which happened to come with about 45 dvds of games (5 PSX and 40'ish PSP). I'm not to up to date on the PSP mod scene and can atleast put PSP games, video (using PSP Video 9) and photos on my PSP so far.

One part of my PSP system says I'm running 1.50 firmware and the other says I'm at 3.30 OA-E (or whatever, but it's 3.30).

Questions.

1.I've yet to test out PSX games which I understand you drop the eboot and the other small file into my GAME150 folder right?

2. I've downloaded and played FF Tactics here (thanks by the way!) and it runs fine. Disgaea says you need atleast 3.52. Can someone direct me about upgrading / downgrading and if I should or shouldn't and how best to play Disgaea then? I'm scared to death of bricking my PSP.

3. I've heard that some recent games actually try to put the latest firmware on your PSP. A Sony plot to reduce playing off the memory card. Is this true and how do you get around this? If you are only running say 3.50, can you still play the latest games? I'm a little confused on the firmware and versions.

4. Upgrading to say 3.52...does it affect you PSP and can you still play all previous games and such?

If a mod or someone familiar with what games are already available for download sees any games on my list that would benefit the community, PM or email me and I can get them posted here. I'm a computer idiot and need to know the best place to dump the games though so people can download them here.

6. I only just learned about .RAR files yesterday downloading the FF Tactics game. How do you convert an .ISO to .CSO? I can't believe my GTA games are about 1.5 Gig as .ISO and someone has compressed them into 500 or so Meg .CSO files.

7. And lastly, I download games in multiple pieces....how do I join them all back up into one .ISO or .CSO file?

Thanks and hopefully I can contribute some games here!

Wow..you certainly ask for a lot.. :p Joking, so here's the basics,

For PSX games, you should put it in the GAME folder along with the KEY file (it's a 2 kb max file) Or you could use Pops

Popsloader :

This plugin enables you to load every PSX game
under POPs -- from fw 3.00 to 3.11. It should hopefully correct any
incompatibilities you may have experienced. Instructions inside
Readme.txt.

Note: You should use this one instead if you upgrade to m33:

Upgrading to 3.52m33 is the best move right now as the other Custom firmware above 3.52 are risky. It's a good choice upgrading to 3.52m33-4

Team M33's custom 3.52 firmware. Based on Sony's official 3.52 update
So here's how to do it:
Download this file first:

And finally update to CFW3.52m33-4 using this:

This kinda answer to question 2,3,4

For question 6 now:
The best compressor I've used and with the most friendly-interface is this one:
"Yet another CSO compressor"

kapoue3's Yacc (Yet Another CSO Compressor)

to CSO or JSO format.

Quesiton 7 now:

If the parts that you have downloaded are in the form
*.part1.rar or *.001.rar, you can just use winrar to extract them. (Just be sure to have all parts in the folder)
Or if the extension is in *.001, *.002, then you should use HJsplit which you can get here:

For Question 5: Use host like [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] or megaupload.com to upload and share the files with us 3

Hope that it helped
