Thumbs up Devices news

[Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]

First of all I never like the original Sony Mylo. The screen resolution just wasn’t there and instead I went for the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet which has that gorgeous 800×480 screen.
Now, we’ve spotted something what seems like the second generation of Sony’s portable communicator. We know it will have WiFi, but other than that we can only speculate. I just hope someone from Sony’s reading this — we want faster CPU than the N800/N810 has, more RAM (N800/N810 has 128 MB), Bluetooth and the built-in GPS. Ok, even without the last mentioned I’m ready to buy it, if it’s affordable enough. We’ll see where this goes…

Thumbs up Upcoming Motorola's 5 MP camera equipped phone caught in the wild?

Back in May, we’ve reported [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] to develop 5 MP camera equipped mobile phone. Then in October, we saw the American handset maker’s [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] for the next year with the X PIXL phone…
Back to the present day. We have an image that apparently show us how will the upcoming Moto phone look like. And while we don’t have a clue whether this is real or not, something tells us we’ll have all the answers just in time for the World Mobile Congress 2008 in Barcelona. Afterwards who knows how much we’ll wait to see it hitting the retail stores and carriers’ portfolios. Hopefully not long…

Thumbs up Bluetooth SIG leaks another HTC NEON - HTC NEON200

Remember that [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] HTC NEON100? Well, we’ve barely had time to digest that little tidbit of HTC Touch-based information, and now the just-as-leaky Bluetooth SIG goes and gives us another sneak peak at another HTC NEON in the pipeline. The HTC NEON200 has surfaced at the FCC website and, like its sibling HTC NEON100, is another HTC Touch variant.
Being that this leak comes from the Bluetooth SIG, we only know that the HTC NEON200 will be rocking Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR. But, we’re hoping that the HTC NEON200 will pick up where the HTC NEON100 supposedly leaves off and brings a US-friendly HSDPA radio to us Yankees.
We’ll just have to wait until HTC is good and ready to drop the HTC NEON (be it the NEON100 or NEON200) on us before we know anymore. It’s just a few more weeks until CES 2008. Hopefully, HTC will be bringing the HTC NEON to show off in Las Vegas.

Thumbs up Chinese phone with 4 cameras helps people spy on others

Have no doubt about it — the device on the image above just looks like a regular phone from China. Actually, it’s a handset designed to help you spy on others. Forget megapixel count, with this device it’s all about camera count. Yap, it has a total of four cameras - one on the back, one on the front and one on the each of the sides. In our everyday’s lives we don’t see the point of such device, a but who knows what you can do with it. And by that, we don’t mean you should put it under the table while having a drink with hot girls…
More photos after the jump.

Thumbs up Polar phone concept; Designed for use with winter gloves

I guess people living in really cold parts of our planet don’t actually represent a significant share of consumers, hence handset makers don’t address their problems. One common problem these people may have is using a mobile phone with their winter gloves. Yap, you need much bigger keys as well as a handset capable to keep working after it was dropped in snow. That seems like the main idea of the Polar phone’s designer, Yuta Watanabe, who made sure the device is large enough, yet kinda compact thanks to its boomerang-like shape. Now, if I remember correctly, Nokia is from Finland and Sony Ericsson headquartered in Sweden. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t envision any Scandinavian country as a tropical paradise. Or to put it in other words — why don’t you Nokia and Sony Ericsson folks make these kind of phones for people living/working in the very north of your respective countries?

Thumbs up Palestinians get new cell phone network

While Palestinians and Israelis are moving ahead with peace talks, Israel will allow the Palestinians to set up a new cell phone network to meet growing demand.
Israel controls all frequencies for cell phones in the West Bank and Gaza, and ever since violence erupted between the sides in 2000, Israel’s defense ministry has turned down repeated Palestinian requests to establish a second network.
At the moment, Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza have only one cell phone network, which has operated since the 1990s.

Thumbs up Unlock Palm Treo 500 hitting Europe next month

Palm will start selling its Treo 500 unlocked in Europe next month. The device that is also known as the [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] runs Windows Mobile 6 and is currently being sold via Vodafone for £299. And while we’ve no idea where Palm thinks this goes, we can only hope some people will buy it unlocked, hence helping the struggling inventor of the PDA device. Finally, let’s recap — Palm we need more devices. You used to be everyone’s favorite company. C’mon, get moving - we’re ready love you again, just give us a reason…

Thumbs up Goldvish Le Million costs 1.43 million bucks, only three available

From high-end smartphones all the way (up?) to the ultra expensive feature phones — we cover everything. And while we prefer the former group, it’s time to plug something about the latter for folks that can afford it.
Swiss-based Goldvish is behind the phone called Le Million that just craves for attention. And what attention it gets/generates. Not only because of all that gold and diamonds, but also because of its price. That’s 1.43 million bucks-worth of telephone baby. And best of all, only three are available.
Normally, I would say hurry up and grab one while you still can, but this isn’t the ordinary gadget and my guess is few Russian tycoons are already waiting in line…

Thumbs up BlackBerry 9000/9XXX specs confirmed

We’ve been waiting on somone to leak some of the juicy details on RIM’s upcoming [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] iPhone-fighting smartphone, and it looks like the blogosphere’s been blessed with a bit of BlackBerry 9000 news. The BlackBerry 9000 has [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] to be bringing US 3G support and a powerful processor to the touchscreen-battle, but whispers and hearsay indicate that HSDPA, let alone UMTS, is not in the cards for RIM’s iPhone-fighter. We’ll have to wait and see what kind of processing power this bugger packs.
We can tell you that the BlackBerry 9000/9XXX will be rocking a 480 x 320 display and will feature a full-QWERTY keyboard. It’s unclear whether the keyboard will be physical in nature or a touchscreen keyboard (like that on the iPhone). Connectivity will be comprised of a quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) radio and 802.11 a/b/g WiFi radio, but, again, 3G isn’t likel - we’d imagine Bluetooth is also packed in there somewhere.
The business-end of the BlackBerry 9000, the OS, will get bumped up to OS 4.3.2 - the new OS for virtually all future 8000-series devices.
Boy Genius likens the BlackBerry 9000 as the older-brother to the BlackBerry 8320, so expect the “9000″ to sport similar dimensions.
Now, the lack of 3G could be a deal killer. The iPhone can get by on the EDGE-only connection because the superb browser combined with an incredible UI and speedy CPU helps it make the most of its non-3G data speeds - we demonstrated that the [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]. Will the BlackBerry 9000 be able to play on the same level - in terms of usability, web experience, and straight processing power - as the iPhone? Only time will tell. Fortunately, it [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...].

Thumbs up Sharp W61SH AQUOS phone for KDDI

Sharp, the pioneering LCD manufacturer, has released another handset fitted with their famous Sharp AQUOS brand of LCD display. The Sharp W61SH will only be available to subscribers on Japan’s KDDI network - sad. With a 2.8 inch Sharp AQUOS display that sports an amazing 2000:1 contrast ratio, the Sharp W61SH is almost enough to get us to move to Japan. Yankees with a longing for a mobile phone with a Sharp AQUOS display will have to settle for the T-Mobile [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...].
The Sharp W61SH is available in Black, White, or Hot Pink (care to take a guess at our favorite color?).
