Just recently, Bytemobile has announced its new product/service called Unison Advertising Module (UAM) to allow mobile operators to serve ads in off-portal web pages on virtually all mobile devices. And while at first reading this may sound like a nightmare comes true, the end result looks very promising despite the fact that users may see website’s header and footer changed to accommodate the ads. Using Bytemobile’s new solution carriers could complement data revenues and provide their customers with more affordable plans while generating additional revenue from advertising.
Interested carriers should know that the UAM is part of the latest release of Bytemobile’s Unison Multi-Service Platform, and is fully integrated with their Unison Web Fidelity Service (WFS), which provides “intelligent content adaptation for open internet browsing” on virtually all handsets… Full release follows after the jump. Cellware.com - mobile social network where users, content creators benefit
Recently I’ve stumbled upon [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] and was immediately amazed how it works. It’s a service that adds a new twist to the mobile social networks. Basically, like for instance [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...], Cellware.com allows users to share mobile content, but also adds a benefit to the content creators allowing them to actually make some money along the way. In addition, they’re providing their members with “fun and easy to use” tools to help them make mobile content, and again, monetize it.
As you’ve probably guessed, they’ll be making their money from advertising, which is not that surprising considering that Cellware.com was created by Advertising.com’s co-founder, John Ferber.
Finally, as with most services we see nowadays, Cellware.com is still in beta, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find any content there. Right from the start, they’ve managed get few of the content producing companies on board, including Alliance, Arphiola, Norstar Media, NO GOOD TV, Go Music Network, Oddcast, Selectracks, SoundIdeas, 4info, and Hanaho Games…

Helio, like so many other MVNO’s, has been hemoraging red-ink like it’s nobody’s business. [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] after [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...], the company has failed to bring their bottom-line back into the green.
Whether or not the financial aspect has influenced their decision to sell off the “Buddy Beacon” trademark is unclear, but it seems that Helio has done just that. The “Buddy Beacon” trademark has been sold off to uLocate, the company that provides the national buddy-finding service.
The move could mark the entry of the friend-location service into other carrier-markets. We could see uLocate take “Buddy Beacon” to other national carriers. Let’s see how this plays out…

News 12 goes mobile; Provides users with quick access to the information they can alr
There’s nothing spectacular about News 12 Networks’ announcement and I’m wondering why I’m writing about it.
They’ve launched “News 12 to Go” mobile service which “conveniently delivers continually updated local traffic, weather, and news information to users over their cell phones.”
Aside from the idea to get into mobile market, I don’t see much of a point here. Maybe News 12 fans can explain me things I don’t understand, but this information is already available from a number of other sources. Heck, you can pick some mobile widget platform and get the info that way.
Anyway, if you happen to receive News 12 as part of your cable TV subscription, the new service is free to you. And (even better?), if you happen to have the web-enable mobile phone, you can also access “additional benefits and advanced features.” Yeah, whatever… Full release — if anyone cares — is available after the break. Research and Markets
has announced the
addition of
“Asia Pacific Tunes
Up For Mobile TV”
at their offering.
This Frost & Sullivan
research service
titled Asia Pacific
Tunes Up for
Mobile TV provides insights into the progresses made in the mobile video and TV broadcast services market in Asia Pacific.
The study highlights some of the best practices in the more mature mobile markets, as well as documents the various challenges faced by most industry participants. It also provides an in-depth demand analysis of the market, and forecasts revenue growth over the period from 2008 to 2013. Within this study, Frost & Sullivan has categorized the featured countries into two broad segments, with the mobile video and TV revenues being the common identifier: mature markets (South Korea) and nascent markets (Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, The Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand).
Mobile TV is the New Buzzword in the Asia Pacific
The recent spate of trials and the commercial launches of broadcast networks in Japan and South Korea indicate that the mobile TV fever could well catch on throughout the Asia Pacific. The markets that have commercially launched their DVB-H mobile TV broadcast services are Vietnam Multimedia Corporation (VMC) in September 2006, and Smart Communications in February 2007. Mature mobile markets such as South Korea and Japan, had both commercially launched their own homegrown standards earlier. While the former had spearheaded the DMB standards (S-DMB launched in May 2005 and T-DMB in December, the same year), the latter launched ISDBT, also known as 1-seg, in April 2006. In China, T-DMB (a different version from South Korea’s) and CMMB, both homegrown standards, are being deliberated for the country’s national mobile TV broadcast standard.
However, most mobile video offerings today are still in the test stage, and operators are developing the business models to determine what content people want and their willingness to pay. "On the technical side, mobile operators are in the process of looking at delivery options and in this regard, the industry has multiple options for the introduction of services," notes the analyst of this research service. "These include dedicated multicasting networks, based on DVB-H or QUALCOMM Incorporated’s forward link only (FLO), high-speed unicast streaming over operators’ existing third-generation networks, or broadcasting and multicasting, using technologies such as multimedia broadcast and multicast standard (MBMS)."
Combination of Unicast and Broadcast Technologies likely to Gain Popularity
Quite significantly, many of the technology vendors are viewing multicast and unicast as complementary technologies. Although unicast networks may be efficient enough to meet the short-term consumer demands of mobile video services, broadcasting technology will be a necessity to bring such services to the mainstream. Having said that, solutions based on broadcast systems will not be able to support non-broadcast services, such as video on demand; hence, a combination of unicast and broadcast technologies is likely to gain popularity in the future. While broadcast will be used for the most popular programs and an unlimited number of additional programs, on-demand content will be delivered using unicast.
Going forward, the total Asia Pacific mobile video is expected to reach $1.88 billion in 2013, with growth emanating mainly from mobile TV and video streaming. "The market is expected to hit mass adoption after 2009, when issues such as handset availability, network interoperability, maturity of ecosystem, and digital rights management (DRM) issues are adequately addressed," says the analyst. "While South Korea will remain the biggest market for mobile video in Asia Pacific, outside Japan, other potential leading markets include Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand."

I’m not sure have you got a chance to try out [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...], but basically they are providing users with custom search results. Their idea is to combine generic, algorithm-based search results with the content hand-picked by ChaCha’s community of search experts. And now, as you can guess for yourself, they’re going mobile.
The new service works pretty simple and all you have to do is text your question to 242242 and wait for an answer. A live person, the so called ChaCha guide, will answer you for free. That’s actually free at this stage for the U.S. (as far as we know), and we’ll have to wait and see how much they’ll charge in the future. In the meantime, you can check out their press release after the break. [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]

Next2Friends extends social networking to real life using Bluetooth
I don’t know have you heard about UK-based [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...], but they are offering quite a feature-packed social networking service/platform. No, I’m not talking about the ability to develop applications for the network — rather I’m referring to their feature that allows users to bridge “virtual world” with the “real world.” Using the Next2Friends software on your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone, Next2Friends will automatically collect and match your data to other Next2Friends users you came into close proximity with. This in turn should improve the way you schmooze around, pointing you to the people you already “virtually” know. Heck, you can use Next2Friends as a dating platform.
Finally, it’s fair to say I doubt the mobile app can alert you there’s a hot blond in the corner waiting for you, but it certainly can help you socialize better. Good luck!

ZestADZ brings together mobile publishers and advertisers in India
India keeps growing like crazy and from time to time we get surprised just how fast things are moving there.
That being said we were recently tipped about ZestADZ, India’s largest and leading mobile advertising platform that brings together mobile publishers and advertisers in the country. Interesting thing to note here, is that when I say mobile publishers, I don’t just mean mobile website publishers. ZestADZ goes well beyond optimized-for-mobile websites — they also allow launch SMS services, as well as mobile game and application developers to monetize their content by using simple API.
As for the reporting, ZestADZ prides itself with a transparent reporting system which displays such information like impressions sent, ads delivered, billing etc.
Finally, if you want to know more about ZestADZ, here’s a link to their [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...].
