Rumor: Windows Mobile 7 information leaked
Someone on the internets claims to have [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...] from Microsoft detailing the next version of the Windows Mobile operating system. The blog post is long and it took me quite a few page refreshes to even get the damn thing up. In order to save you the agony I downloaded the site, you can grab the 2 MB zip file [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]. The jist of it is that the iPhone set the bar and touch plus motion detection is the wave of the future.
Sure it is Microsoft, sure it is. That logo above is supposed to represent the new version of WinMo, which is why I suggest you take this information with a grain of salt.

Celio REDFLY gives Windows Mobile 5 / 6 users some Foleo-like goodness
Why should a little thing like an entire platform-scrapping from Palm stop Celio from following in their red-stained footprints? After having pulled the plug on the craptastic failure that was the Palm Foleo, Celio is announcing the Celio REDFLY Smartphone Interface System.
Like it’s Palm-borne cousin, the Celio REDFLY is essentially a computing companion for Windows Mobile 5 and 6 users looking for a larger display and keyboard to help boost their productivity. The REDFLY won’t do anything fancy on its own, but when you tether it to your Windows Mobile smartphone, you’ll be tapping out emails like none other.
The slated $499 price-point doesn’t bode well for the REDFLY - remember, that was the same price-tag that killed the Palm Foleo - but hey, if Celio wants at it, then let them do their thing. Just don’t come crying to us when you guys have to close up shop for lack of that little thing we like to call “profits.”

Thanks God, Microsoft won't launch the Zune phone
Please note that I’ve nothing against Microsoft, I only find their “chasing Apple” strategy on some fronts kinda ridiculous. So, I’m glad to report that the Redmond giant won’t make the Zune phone!
In an interview with Germany’s Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, when asked whether Microsoft will make the Zune phone, Bill himself said, “No, we won’t do that. In the so-called smart phone business we will concentrate solely on software with our Windows Mobile program. We have partnerships with a lot of device manufacturers from Samsung to Motorola and this variety brings us significantly more than if we would make our own mobile phone.”
Thanks God for that! Now Bill before you fully leave Microsoft, bring us much better Windows Mobile 7 and we’ll love ya

Turn your WiFi-enabled Windows Mobile smartphone into a GPRS/UMTS/HSPA wireless route
If you’re paying for unlimited data through your carrier’s data network, shouldn’t you be able to use that data package on more than one phone? Why get an unlimited data package for each and every Windows Mobile smartphone in your collection?
WMWifiRouter is a new application for Windows Mobile 6 (possibly 5) that lets you share your WiFi-enabled smartphone’s data GPRS/UMTS/HSPA data connection over that delicious WiFi connection. As long as your other smartphones have WiFi connectivity, you can essentially use WMWifiRouter to turn one handset into a wireless router, and then log into that handset via WiFi to surf the unlimited data network to your heart’s content.

Paul found the utility in the “Tools” directory of the SDK, and in the name of saving you a 200MB SDK download, he’s packaged the GPSID Configuration Utility into a convenient little CAB file.

Haier dual SIM Windows Mobile smartphone coming to the US?Haier may be entering the
Haier may be entering the U.S. big time. And I don’t think they’ll launch some new revolutionary devices that will “change the mobile industry.” Rather, being the small brand, they may go where major handset makers rarely do…
The Haier HG-N99’s two SIM slots eliminate the idea of carrying two phones all the time — the single device can for instance pack both AT&T’s and T-Mobile’s SIM cards. And even though you won’t be able to make simultaneous calls, you can receive calls to both numbers at any time!
Other than dual-SIM support, Haier’s device also packs a 2 MP camera, Bluetooth, GPRS/EDGE, and of course the microSD expansion slot. Windows Mobile is running the show…

FunContact has become faster!
FunContact has become faster!
Minor changes make big difference
28 January, 2008 – VITO Technology releases a new version of FunContact. New version of the contact manager loads in the twinkling of an eye. Managing contacts has become faster and still much fun! Minor bugs have been fixed.
Along with finger friendly touch oriented interface like on iPhone FunContact has other awesome features up its sleeve that turn Windows Mobile contact management into real FUN: quick access to list of favorite contacts
quick access to call history
instant finger scroll with alphabetic ruler
keypad for dialing and T9 contacts look up
built-in contacts editing
sparkling graphics, smooth navigation, animated menus and big onscreen buttons There’s been a definite call from FunContact users to speed up initial start of FunContact. The new version of FunContact starts about 8 times quicker!
Memory usage has also been optimized. Now you can have FunContact running safely in background without having to worry how much memory is left for other applications.
Another new feature allows you to add a new contact or update an existing contact with a new number right from the call log.
Lefthanders will be surprised to see the alphabetic ruler appearing on the left side of the screen. It used to appear only on the right side of the screen and lefthanders could not see the big letter in the center of the screen while sliding the ruler for quick contact look-up.
In addition, minor bugs have been fixed. Contact sorting is saved alright even if you exit FunContact. The pretty Korean girl that appeared as default photo for all contacts is gone.
FunContact is available for $19.95 at [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]. Current users upgrade for free. Multilingual version of FunContact is also available at pocketland.de (German, French, Italian, Spanish).
VITO Technology Inc. is known for its high-tech products in the field of Windows Mobile and Symbian software, GPS navigation and custom projects. Introduced in the present article FunContact is a touch oriented finger friendly contact manager for Windows Mobile Pocket PC.

Skyfire browser turns up the heat - desktop-like mobile web-browser with Flash suppor
Full desktop-like web browsing on a mobile phone has been just beyond the grasp of many enthusiasts for quite some time. Sure, there are mobile browsers out there that offer an almost desktop-like browsing experience and combine it with a good dose of usability (ahem, iPhone Safari), but the lack of integrated Flash support keeps these browsers from claiming true desktop-like browsing.
Enter Skyfire for Windows Mobile. The new mobile browser brings the true internet (like you’d experience from your desktop or laptop computer) to Windows Mobile smartphones. Flash-advertisements, YouTube, MySpace, Facebook - any and all web-pages load in speedy fashion thanks to Skyfire’s behind-the-scenes server-magic. With integrated Flash support, animated/interactive advertisements come to life, embedded videos play in the browser, and Flash-based web-pages are finally viewable.
Skyfire is compatible with Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 - in both touchscreen and non-touchscreen flavors.
Check out the video below to get an idea for how Skyfire will work on your WinMo handset. Then go sign up for the private beta [Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...].
