Skate Demo delayed on Xbox 360 for no longer than a week
EA has posted up on their message boards that the demo of Skate has been delayed for a few days, but it shouldn't be for longer than a week. However, the retail ship dates are still good, with the game expcted to be available on September 12 for the Xbox 360 and September 24 for the PS3.
The demo has been delayed for a few days. How many? We're not quite sure yet... hopefully not more than a week.
An Official announcement will be forthcoming, but this forum has become a family of sorts… and I want to make sure that you hear it from me personally as to why things are going down the way they are.
As you know, we are trying something completely new for an Xbox Marketplace demo by allowing people to play the game and upload footage to our SKATE website. The thing is: the skate.reel video upload functionality is much more technically complex than a standard offline demo. So after submitting it to MS, we got blindsided by a technical (server related) issue we needed to address. Unfortunately it wasn’t really something that could have been avoided - just an unfortunate side-effect of doing something totally new in a demo environment.
Small consolation at this point; however, our ship date for the game is still set for September 12 for Xbox 360 and September 24 for PlayStation 3.
I know this will cause disappointment, dismay, anxiety, hate posts, and such, but please believe me when I tell you, the team feels your pain. We read your posts on the boards. The team has been feeding off the positive energy as we drive towards finaling the game. We've all been dying to get the game in your hands as soon as humanly possible. We've seen what the reactions are when people play the game and we want to share that experience with everyone.
