That's where French soccer star Zinedine Zidane left things Wednesday during widely broadcast television interviews that attempted to decipher his ugly head-butting of an Italian opponent during the World Cup final.

He did say he was spurred by cruel insults to his mother and sister. But the exact exchange between France's captain and Marco Materazzi remains a mystery. Zidane never was specific about what enraged him. So, for the moment, the words stay between them.

Before the match, Zidane said that his mother was dying and he wanted to win the world cup for her.

During the match, it seemed, that Materazzi said his mother was a Bitc* and his dad was a terorist...or something like that. His sister was involved in it too...

So due to frustration of not winning and against materrazi, he simply head-butted him...

This is the mauritian point of views!

I say that Zidane was really clever to head-butt him instead of punching or kicking because the FIFA can pursue any player who was involved in punching or kicking but not for head- butting so Zidane will not be risking any sanction, anyway his career is finished....

I'm Italian. Materazzi didn't say anything like "terrorist" : this is what zidane himself said in french tv. Materazzi offended only zidane's sister, and not his mother, also because Materazzi himself lost his mother when he was 15, and could never say something like that: this is what materazzi said. And Zidane started to provocate him. a Champion CAN'T do something cruel like that hit.
