Exclamation Making backups of contact.

Guys i found out somthin. dont know abt u guys. but its rather new for me.there is a file in "C:\SYSTEM\DATA\Contacts.cdb". i think this file contains all the contact. i checked my contact memory. its 56KB. and the file size is also 56Kb. the file size increases and decreases if i add or delete contacts. so i thought that if i could copy the file somwhere else i could keep a safe backup of my contacts. but the problem is, i cant copy this file. when i tried to copy it with SmartFile Manager it says " Already in use". Fexplorer also doesn't work. any1 has any idea on how can i copy this file? please guys let me know. coz if this works it would be a much easier way to backup my contacts rather than using pc-suite. atleast i think like that.

what type/model of phone are we talking about?
Like for example i have a 6680 and for me it's much simpler. i just go to contacts menu select in options backup to mmc and i'm done

When i do a hard reset i just can place them back in 1 single click

Btw when i select this method i have a single *.vcf for each contact that can be changed easy with external program or in outlook for example

And that's why we need to know what model you are using

Ok back on track!

Can you tell me waht kind of options you have in contacts menu?
The penn works on the 6600 the same as for 6680 so you can mark the contacts by holding te pen and scroll up or down , when all selected what can you do when you select options?

Ok i have found somthing but it's not contacts specific

go to menu - instruments - memory
- select options - back phone memory.

All data is backuped to MMC

replace data

go to menu - instruments - memory
select options - restore from card

the only problem is that it saves contacts, profilesettings etc.

A more faster way is using a bleutooth dongle and use nokia suite or something like that, those dongles aren't so expensive as before maybe an idea?

Smile Solution sound ! ( thanx to lunimax frm iphone-forum)

thanx to "lunimax" from iphone-forum for providing this solution !

I am quoting his lines below,

"with FExplorer rename c:\system\Data to whatever (ex. c:\system\DataOFF)
copy contacts.cdb paste to other directory
rename c:\system\DataOFF to original name"

Thats it ! ! ! nothing is easier than that ! atleast for n6600 users. much better than using anu contact backup app.
