u can also try DivX player 2 play .avi files & Mobitubia 2 play .flv files n an easier & more organized way, but coreplayer still the top various files types player

I use DivX mobile and that seems to work fine. Don't know whether it is the best, just works good on my N95.

Alas no. VLC is too large for a mobile phone. COREPLAYER is the only option right now for a high percentage of formats that will play.
