Key features:

  • Fast and responsive user interface
  • Excellent display, with unmatched legibility under direct sunlight
  • Great earphones
  • Symbian S60 3rd edition FP1
  • Sporty, youthful design
  • The swiveling part is well-built and very functional

Main disadvantages:

  • Awkward joystick
  • Weak bass
  • Bizarre Menu and C keys

Nokia 5700 went off to a flying start with its very release, earning itself quite a number of fans. Smartphone functionality topped with music phone charisma was sure to appeal to all walks of life. Nokia E90: Heavyweight champion
By Nokia-master
Published: September 12, 2007

Size doesn't bother you? Then get ready for the stars and the moon, for the communicator gives it all: internet, GPS, excellent camera and many others.

The Nokia E90 Communicator is the latest addition to the set of contemporary high-performance devices for executives. We had to wait three years since the last Nokia 9500 Communicator appeared. Our patience was duly rewarded at the 2007 3GSM Congress, when Nokia unveiled the ultimate no-compromise mobile communication device. It remains faithful to some of the family traditions, others it forsakes, but the outcome is downright worth it. Nokia E90 has the familiar body construction: a hefty handset, which opens up to reveal a wide landscape display.

Before the E90 appeared, communicators used to be a class on its own in the Nokia portfolio. They had their own UI, which brought forth a number of issues. Above all, every application had to be adapted to the uncommon S80 UI. Quite unaffordable and therefore rare, communicators were ostracized by software developers. That's exactly the flaw, which has been addressed in the new Nokia E90. The phone features a standard Symbian 9.2 and 3rd edition S60, working on a giant display and ensuring far greater compatibility.

Tons of live pics of the Nokia N81
By Nokia-master
Published: August 8, 2007

We had our first real taste of the N81 yesterday and today a bigger dosage appears for our pleasure. There are tons of pics but it is still of a model and not of the real phone. But hey...it's better than nothing. The phone looks gorgeous in these pics. I like the black shiny plastic despite it being a fingerprint magnet. The phone isn't that thin but I wouldn't consider it thick either...it is thinner than the N80. The phone features a 2.45 inch QVGA 16 million color display and is about 17 mm thick and 10 cm long. It also features micro USB, 3.5 mm connectors, 8 GB internal storage and 2 mega pixel camera with flash. It will be announced on the 29th. Enjoy the pics!

Hands-on with the Nokia N76
By Nokia-master
Published: July 3, 2007

Until just very recently, the terms "smartphone" and "fashion" seemed doomed to travel very different paths, never to intersect -- not in a product consumers could actually get their hands on, at least. As carriers and customers demand that their mobile companions become ever more featureful, though, the line separating high-end dumbphones and full-out smartphones bends, then bends some more, then finally breaks, leaving a clear-cut market for ultra-stylish open platform devices in its wake. There will always be buyers ready and waiting for handsets like the RAZR 2 and the Shine, but when Joe and Jane Businessperson are looking to open Word documents by day and get noticed in the bar by night, something's gotta give.

AT&T retires Nokia’s E62
By Nokia-master
Published: June 21, 2007

In the primordial days of the affordable, multimedia/enterprise slab—say, a year ago—the Nokia Corp. E62 swiftly joined the fray initiated by the Motorola Inc. Q. They were soon joined by the RIM Pearl, along with a host of others. The space is getting more crowded by the minute.

Thus it would make sense to refresh one’s affordable slab. The Nokia E62 has been offered at AT&T Mobility for nine months now, according to AT&T’s John Kampfe, director of media and analyst relations, and it is set for retirement. The device has already disappeared from the operator’s Web site, although refurbished models may remain.

Nokia Aeon live pics

Remember when Nokia revealed their Aeon concept almost half a year ago? We all thought it was just a concept and probably forgotten by most. Apparently this concept has a very good chance of becoming a reality. A prototype of this device does indeed exist in Nokia's headquarters in Finland. The first 4 pics are old and well known. The last 3 pics shows the device in all it's glory (the device is said to be very well/strongly built). I guess Nokia also wants a piece of the full touchscreen phone action. iPhone killer?

5 megapixles Sony Ericsson K850 Cyber-shot phone announced
By Nokia-master

The Sony Ericsson K850 Cyber-Shot is a tri-band HSDPA phone
with 5 megapixels camera with flash.

5 megapixel camera phone with Auto focus and Xenon flash
Tri-Band HSDPA phone for high-speed picture and video blogging
Advanced digital camera features - BestPic™, Photo fix and PictBridge
Beautiful images - The 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and Xenon flash produces true digital camera results. Even if you are not an expert photographer, the K850 does everything to help you get the best possible shots on your phone. Photo fix automatically improves light balance in one click to make your picture as good as it can get. When taking a picture of a moving object, for example at a sports event, you can select BestPic™ and take nine pictures in one burst. Then simply choose the best and delete the rest.

Beautifully simple - Increased functionality does not mean increased complexity. When in camera mode the K850's next generation camera menu makes it intuitive to scroll between functions like shoot mode and picture size. The lens cover retracts automatically with one press of the camera button and a new mode selector lets you switch quickly between camera, video and picture viewing modes. The regular phone keyboard also has a dual purpose; switch to camera mode and illuminated icons indicate which keys act as short-cuts for the digital Zoom and other functions.

Easy to access - Beyond the camera, the K850 is a capable multimedia phone. The new media browser puts all of your stored media, whether photos, video, music or podcasts, in one place offering you a unique Sony Ericsson media experience. Scroll, sort and access your media from a single point in the menu. The K850 Cyber-shot™ phone also allows you to carry out an intelligent search to see photos by the month they were taken, view thumbnail images or scroll through in full-picture mode. With the new crystal display, the K850 offers optimal clarity from any viewing angle.

Easy to share - Once you have taken your picture it is easy to share the memory. If showing a photo on the K850's large 2.2" crystal bright display, the innovative auto rotate feature will display it in the correct aspect - portrait or landscape - irrespective of the orientation it was taken in. Picture blogging and video blogging allow you to upload your shots and footage at HSDPA speeds to your own blogsite.

Easy to pair - Given the premium look of the K850 Cyber-shot™ phone, you will want to match it with an accessory that looks just as good. Announced today as an optional accessory, the Bluetooth™ Headset IV840 fits discretely and securely into your ear. This high-performance headset can leave you handsfree for up to 9 hours of talking. It can pair automatically with the K850 for easy set-up, whilst digital noise cancellation provides for optimum sound quality. So, like the K850, the IV840 does not compromise performance or ease of use.

Some new Nokia in the Horizon
By Nokia-master
Published: June 12, 2007

I have no info on this unidentified Nokia phone. It is a clamshell with dedicated media player keys on the exterior. It has a relatively large screen (not as big as Motorola's V8/V9). It also has a cam with a led. It has a nice silver/orange color combo (wonder if this color will be available or is just for the prototype - SE Walkman colors?). I wonder what the device's name is, NXX or 6XXX. It looks nice...

Bluetooth technology expands for ultra low power PAN applications with Nokia's Wibree

Bellevue, WA, USA and Espoo, Finland - The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG),  the more than 8,000-company strong trade association responsible for advancing Bluetooth wireless technology, joined Nokia today in announcing that the Wibree forum, the group specifying the Nokia developed ultra low power wireless technology, will be merged with the Bluetooth SIG.
With this announcement, the Wibree specification will become part of the Bluetooth specification as an ultra low power Bluetooth technology. Because Wibree addresses devices with very low battery capacity and can be easily integrated with Bluetooth technology, it will round out Bluetooth technology's wireless Personal Area Networking (PAN) offering and strengthen the technology's ability to provide wireless connectivity for smaller devices.
